Luxor-Excalibur Expansion

Circus Circus Enterprises sought to renovate and expand its premiere property, the Luxor. The company's goals were to sustain the growth of the Luxor Hotel and to provide the momentum to compete in an increasingly competitive market.

The proposed renovation of the hotel’s public areas provides increased casino capacity, additional food, beverage and retail attractions, improved entertainment facilities and an increased room base. New guest rooms, located in village at the pyramid’s perimeter, are designed to imitate an Egyptian community that may have surrounded the pyramids of antiquity. Eight large obelisks act as a visual bridge to symbolically connect the random village profile to the inherently austere presence of the pyramid.

The main entrance to the revitalized casino was relocated to coincide with a new pedestrian bridge connecting the Luxor and Excalibur Hotels.
