Philbrook Museum of Art and Museum School
The renovation and expansion of the Philbrook Museum of Art in Tulsa, Oklahoma, reflects UDG’s understanding of the role art museums play in their respective communities, where each generation of the community is also present in the building or buildings as a layering of artistic and collegial merit and intentions.

The new addition is large, but is placed entirely upon the area occupied by earlier museum additions. While four stories high, the terrain allows the addition to remain below the height of the original villa.

The addition includes an art school, changing-exhibits gallery, auditorium, bookstore, and a new entry rotunda. Other main spaces added include major conference facilities, museum restaurant, and curatorial space. The new entry rotunda offers easy access to key spaces in the addition and into the original villa, which was carefully rehabilitated to house the museum’s permanent collection.
