Snellville Public Works Recycling Center

This new center provides a place for citizens to bring materials for recycling. Using grant funds from the state of Georgia, The City of Snellville built a one-story building.

The facility serves as an office for the recycling center and as an example of environmentally-friendly design and construction. Building features included energy-efficient lighting and HVAC, and sustainable materials such as bamboo floors and recycled carpet. The wood framing lumber was certified as harvested from managed forests and the building insulation was created from recycled newspaper.

The building design mimics a small house, both educating and encouraging the citizens of Snellville in the practicality of sustainable design. Groups can tour the building and view exhibits about its sustainable features.
