In 2000, Urban Design Group was commissioned by the College of Agriculture and Environmental Science at UGA to develop a Master Plan for the property under their control throughout the state.
UDG worked closely with CAES staff to develop a Strategic Land Use Resource Plan. This Plan outlines a land transaction process and received approval by the Board of Regents, University and College. Within this process an advisory committee within the College uses databases, defined evaluation criteria guiding principles to validate all land transactions.
As a result, the College has used this plan to:
• Accept or reject land donations
• Require all faculty to show justifications for land requests
• Clear any questions the Board of Regents might have toward approved land transactions
• Fully understand how much land CAES controls and whether those properties truly serve CAES as they apply their Core Values
