The new home of the USC School of Cinematic Arts serves as the primary site for administration of the School and instruction for students seeking undergraduate and advanced degrees in film, television and interactive media. UDG was asked to create a high-performance building, adaptable for the future while honoring USC’s unparalleled contribution to the history of filmmaking.
UDG designed the building to meet LEED Silver status by using eco-friendly materials, systems and methods. The School of Cinematic Arts represents the first project designed, built and managed (by the Facilities Management Department) using Building Information Modeling tools. The project was delivered using Virtual Design and Construction (VD+C) methodology. This is the most extensive application of its kind in any sector, public or private.
