A nursing shortage in the East Texas region fueled a need for additional nursing school graduates at the University of Texas in Tyler. UDG worked with the department and administration to design a new School of Nursing to meet growing program demands.
Located near the heart of the original campus, the Braithwaite Building is carefully massed to fit its surroundings. The materials selected are similar to earlier structures. The shade and shadow of the curtain wall and facades use the proportions and rhythm of the original campus. Included in the new facility are three interactive long-distance learning classrooms, computer resource laboratory, skill laboratory with two 10-bed skills labs and two 10-table assessment areas.
